THE CAPTIVITY MEME

You've been captured -- or maybe you've been held captive for a while now. Whatever the case, you've lost your freedom, and there's a specific person responsible for that. You might be a prisoner, a mental patient, a kidnap victim, or someone's pet. Maybe you're there willingly, or maybe the choice has been taken away from you completely.

Both smut and non-smut scenarios are possible. If you don't want to play smut, please indicate so in the title line of your tag.

1. Leave a tag with your character. Be sure to include any limits on what you are willing to play, as this meme has the potential to be triggering.
2. Someone else tags in and uses RNG to generate a number between 1 and 9 (or pick your favorite). The second character is holding the first character captive now.

1. For their own good. Does this person really think they could make it on their own? It's a big, scary world out there, and you need to protect them from it, whether they like it or not.

2. For the good of society. Forget protecting this person -- it's your duty to protect the world from them! Maybe they committed a terrible crime, or maybe they were falsely condemned, but it's your job to keep them locked up where they can't do any more harm.

3. Because they're not well. How's your bedside manner? Whether you're Florence Nightingale or Mildred Ratched, you're in the position of ministering to the mentally ill. Maybe this person genuinely needs your help, or maybe you're just turning a blind eye to their true sanity.

4. For the money. Higher aims? What higher aims? This person is your meal ticket, and they're staying put until their loved ones pay up.

5. For their love. It might be a case of yandere, or it might be a consenting BDSM relationship. Whether it's by mutual agreement or by force, you're keeping them simply because you love them.

6. Because they're cute and fluffy. Who's a cutesy wutesy? They are! Yes, they are! This person is your pet now. Maybe they're a different species from you, or maybe you just don't care that you're both people. Maybe you're even an alien zookeeper looking after a new acquisition.

7. Because they're your property. Slave? Livestock? Who cares what they think - they're your property, and you decide their fate.

8. For the lulz. Hey, what's a little bondage between friends? You'll let them go, once you're done laughing and snapping photos... maybe.

9. Choose a scenario, or combine several.

I plonk myself down next to him, a hand on the bed next to his chest to hold myself up while I lean in closer. "I'm not sure I should. You're less dangerous like this. And..."

In less danger. I hate when you get hurt.

Well...this was interesting. He looked up at Cam curiously. "I didn't know you were worried about me being dangerous around you." Cam wasn't scared of him was he? Hunter...really didn't like that thought.

"And what?"

"Not like that," I say hastily. "What happened with you and Blake, that's all water under the bridge. I mean you can't do any damage to Dustin's mental health if you're tied up. Unless he's more depraved than I'd thought, anyway."

I look at him levelly, eyebrows drawing down over my nose. He deserves an honest answer. Yes, he's been terrible, but I did tie him up, and besides. He's Hunter. "And you can't get hurt as easily," I say at last.

Hunter shuddered. "Can we please stop talking about Dustin?" That was the last thing he needed, the image of Dustin with a bondage fetish. Especially starring himself.

At this rate, he wasn't going to be able to look Dustin in the eye next time he saw the Earth Ninja.

He had to say, he hadn't been expecting that. "...Oh." It took a moment before he could go on. "I didn't know that...uh...mattered so much to you."

"Yes, probably a good idea," I say ruefully. I don't know quite why I keep mentioning him.

I swallow. "Is- is that okay?"

Yes, no more talking about Dustin.

Unless you'd rather Dustin was here...

"Yeah, I mean, that's a good thing right?" Right? "Though, I'd like to think I don't get hurt that often."

I really don't want to think about Dustin right now anyway.

"Often enough," I say irritably. Defensive? Me? "You could be more careful with yourself."

"I do what I have too." Hunter couldn't help it. It was his big brother instincts from taking care of Blake for so long. As one of the oldest rangers, the others just kinda fell into the same category: need to be protected at all cost. Cam especially, even if he was older then Hunter.

But he wasn't going to tell Cam that.

I sigh. "...yeah. Yeah, I know. But don't expect me to like it."

I don't like seeing any of them in danger. Don't like seeing any of them get hurt. But it's always been different with him.

"I think I'd be even more worried if you did." Hunter smirked again but it was more fond then anything, in an ateemtp to lighten the mood.

I roll my eyes at that, then do a small double take. "You're worried? Don't worry about me. Just stop tossing yourself quite so enthusiastically into danger," I say wryly, reaching out without conscious intention to tuck a strand of hair back behind his ear.

"Better me then you." It just popped out of his mouth before he could stop himself and Hunter's mouth shut so fast his teeth clicked. Then Cam touched him so tenderly which just made him swallow thickly and stare up at him in bewilderment.

My look of surprise must match his.

I sigh. "You and your hero complex," I mutter, beginning to work on one of his wrists. "Better me than you, honestly. Like my welfare's more important than yours."

I would blame my Blackberry but...

Hunter cocked his head up so he could watch his wrist being released. It was better then avoiding eye contact. "It is." He said softly. "You do so much for all of us. You are the brains behind...dude, everything. We never would have survived without you." He realized that they probably didn't tell Cam that enough and that...that was tragic.

*laughs*

I shake my head, feeling my cheeks heat. "I do my part. You guys have all fought actively longer than I have. And without my family issues we wouldn't be in half as much trouble."

I free that hand, then have to lean across him to work on his other.

The thing is possessed, I swear

"Come on, dude. Those issues are all Lothor's fault. they had nothing to do with you."

There was a small strangled pause as he turned his head away so Cam wouldn't see how being so close (and emotional) was affecting him.

"And Blake and I may have been the top choices for the Thunder Rangers...but other ninjas could do what we did." And watch his arrogance crack a little.

"Family's family, and you feel responsible for Blake," I sigh as I work away at his other wrist. His skin's warm against mine, and it's not like we've never touched each other before, fighting against or alongside each other or afterwards, but this... this is a different kind of intimacy.

I frown. "Not like you, surely," I protest instantly. That just seems wrong.

"All that stuff happened before you were even born? How does that even compare?"

Hunter kept looking away to hide his reaction to Cam being so close. This touching was different, somehow, and he wasn't trying not to think about it.

"You know what I mean. You have all that brainy stuff going for you. Name one other person at either Academy who could do that."

*laughs*

I shrug uncomfortably. "I... don't know. It still matters, though."

I finish with his other wrist and move back, but only a little. I'm still sitting next to him, hip warmed by contact with his side. "A couple, to some extent. Okay, maybe not to my standards." I sigh. "You may have a point. But that doesn't mean no one would be able to maintain the zords at all without me, and it doesn't mean you're replaceable."

Now that his wrists were free, it gave Hunter something else to focus on then how close Cam still was. He sat up a bit and rubbed them to get some of the circulation back before staring on releasing one of his ankles.

"I never said I was. Just that it's always going to be you over me." He tried to put some finality in his statement as he really didn't want to talk about this anymore.

I'm silent for a while as I work on his other ankle and try to parse what the hell he means.

...still not sure.

I finish with the last loop of rope. I poke him carefully in the side of the foot and don't look at him. "Logically, that makes some sense. But logic doesn't mean much in these circumstances, and if you ever take a shot for me I'll smack you so damn hard."

I get up, and scoot towards the main room. "I'll get your shoes."

"You don't hit nearly as hard as Tori. I'll take my chances" Was Hunter's flippant reply as he shook off the last of the ropes and turned so he could sit with his feet on the floor. He stretched out his limbs that had fallen asleep a little as he waited, since it was better then thinking.

"Not fair, no one does!" I call, looking for his stupid shoes.

"Who ever said anything was fair?" He was teasing but the statement did hit him in the gut a little. Hardly anything in Hunter's life had been fair, until he'd met the Wind Rangers. And even now...The term "so close and yet so far" had a similar impact.

"Dude, what did you do with my shoes? Hide them?"

"...point," I admit, voice muffled because by now I'm on the floor. Things have been particularly unfair for him and Blake, really. I'm straining under Dad's, um, little house, with my behind sticking out. "Possibly we have mice?"

No, can't see them there either.
