THE CAPTIVITY MEME

You've been captured -- or maybe you've been held captive for a while now. Whatever the case, you've lost your freedom, and there's a specific person responsible for that. You might be a prisoner, a mental patient, a kidnap victim, or someone's pet. Maybe you're there willingly, or maybe the choice has been taken away from you completely.

Both smut and non-smut scenarios are possible. If you don't want to play smut, please indicate so in the title line of your tag.

1. Leave a tag with your character. Be sure to include any limits on what you are willing to play, as this meme has the potential to be triggering.
2. Someone else tags in and uses RNG to generate a number between 1 and 9 (or pick your favorite). The second character is holding the first character captive now.

1. For their own good. Does this person really think they could make it on their own? It's a big, scary world out there, and you need to protect them from it, whether they like it or not.

2. For the good of society. Forget protecting this person -- it's your duty to protect the world from them! Maybe they committed a terrible crime, or maybe they were falsely condemned, but it's your job to keep them locked up where they can't do any more harm.

3. Because they're not well. How's your bedside manner? Whether you're Florence Nightingale or Mildred Ratched, you're in the position of ministering to the mentally ill. Maybe this person genuinely needs your help, or maybe you're just turning a blind eye to their true sanity.

4. For the money. Higher aims? What higher aims? This person is your meal ticket, and they're staying put until their loved ones pay up.

5. For their love. It might be a case of yandere, or it might be a consenting BDSM relationship. Whether it's by mutual agreement or by force, you're keeping them simply because you love them.

6. Because they're cute and fluffy. Who's a cutesy wutesy? They are! Yes, they are! This person is your pet now. Maybe they're a different species from you, or maybe you just don't care that you're both people. Maybe you're even an alien zookeeper looking after a new acquisition.

7. Because they're your property. Slave? Livestock? Who cares what they think - they're your property, and you decide their fate.

8. For the lulz. Hey, what's a little bondage between friends? You'll let them go, once you're done laughing and snapping photos... maybe.

9. Choose a scenario, or combine several.

I actually squeak a bit when Gamel grabs me, Yummy leaps from my shoulder and frolics a few paces away.. God damn he is tall. Taller than Uva. Wow. And strong.

"Gamel, it's alright, it's me." I look at his little friend with a wave. Yummy is winding around her ankles, so I guess she's alright. "I'm Kazari. Yeah, I know Gamel." I pull back so I can catch Gamel's eye. "I know where Mezool is, okay. Have you eaten anything?" I assume he's a human now, like the rest of us. "Not just candy, Gamel, real food."

Kitty ran away.

"I want Mezul!" I stomp. Wanting feels weird. Different.

But candy? "Ahim person gave me candy!" Tummy rumble. "But want more!"

I bend to pick up the adorable little kitten, and scritch it gravely behind the ear. "Kazari, will you and Gamel be all right or can I give you some assistance?" I ask politely. "I must get back to my friends, but if you need me..."

I pat Gamel on the... arm, as reaching his shoulder is a bit of a stretch. "We'll be okay." I manage a smile at her and a little wave. "Thank's for looking out for him, though." She's a stranger, so it's not like I have to tell her Gamel's life story.

"Yummy, c'mere." I purr at the cat. I think Gamel wants to hold him. Might keep him calm while I try to track down Mezool.

Tummy still rumble. Feels strange.

Kazali and Ahim person talk. Ahim person pets kitty!

Where is Mezul?

"All right. Good luck," I say gratefully. "It was pleasant to meet you both."

I pat the kitten again and hand it over. Time to find the others again.

"Good to meet you too." I say offhandedly. She's pretty cute, and small like Mezool, so I could see why Gamel attached himself to her.

Yummy crawls up my sleeve to perch on my shoulder so he can rear up and sniff at Gamel's face. "Let's get you some food first, Gamel, okay?" I've got my phone out, and Uva'd gotten a phone and given me the number, so I should be able to track Mezool down easily enough. But I'm more concerned about Gamel not dying of starvation.

Not sushi, that's for sure. Where can I take him, then?

"Bye bye, Ahim person!" I wave at Ahim person.

Kazali has kitty again! And other thing. "Get some food?" Will make tummy not rumble?

Something weird. Can't find cell medal. "Kazali, something is wrong..."

Well, at least Gamel has a friend. I let Yummy climb up onto Gamel's shoulder and make a beckoning gesture. I don't know of a lot of places to get food, but one of them is that restaurant where Ankh lives. That might be helpful too. I don't think Gamel ever quite realized how much at odds all the rest of us were at times.

"Yeah, we're going to get you some food." I send Uva a quick text message, Gamel back too. He wants Mezool.

I slow down so he can keep up with me, looking up at him with a little frown. "What's wrong, Gamel?"

I HAVE KITTY. "KITTY."

Follow Kazali and pet kitty. Tummy rumble.

"Can't make yummy." Show Kazali my hand. "No medals."

Yummy seems happy. I can actually hear Gamel's stomach growling, so I'm glad we're almost at the restaurant. I have enough money to buy him some stuff.

"No, you're not gonna be able to make yummies anymore." I say quietly. "All the Medals are gone." Now I'm kind of hoping Ankh or Eiji will be at the restaurant, because I... stopped existing a while before any of the others.

"What do you remember last, before meeting Ahim?" I ask him quietly. How did Gamel... die?

"Medals...gone?" No more medals. "Then, how...we..."

Think hard. Real hard. Remember pain, and... "Mezul?" I gave Mezul candy. "And candy."

[catcameback]

"All gone." I admit. "We're just human now. That's why you're hungry."

Well, that's not really any help. I run my hands through my hair, wondering. I guess it doesn't really matter. He's back now, that's all five of us.

I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Still no cell medal. "Human...how? Why?"

More memories. "Uva and Mezul too? How?"

Do not understand. But am hungry. Maybe Kazali will give me candy.

I pout at Gamel as I lead him into the restaurant and a table. I feel bad that I can't explain.

"We don't know." I admit, rubbing the back of my neck. "But we're all back now. You and me. Uva and Mezool... Ankh."

I order... an assortment of things, none of them fish, because I don't think Gamel will take kindly to that.

"You have to eat, alright? More than just candy."

Remember Ankh. Remember fighting. "Ankh...is good? Or bad?" Want Mezul here, tell me what to do.

"I can eat." Smell something where we are. Smells good. "More than candy? Is it good?"

Pet kitty. Kitty smell like kitty.

Good question.

"Ankh's on our side. We've all got to stick together, okay? No one else is like us, right?"

The food starts to arrive and I shove some rice towards him. "It's very good."

"Everyone together!" Ankh, Kazali, Mezul, Uva...all together. Family. "A good thing."

Kazali give me something. "Candy?" Smells not like candy. Eat it anyway. "Chewy like candy! But taste different."

Is not candy, but not bad.

[catcameback]

"Not all the time." I don't want to lie to him, or give him false hope or anything. "I mean, Mezool's parents might be able to take you in too. But I live with other people. And Ankh lives with other people. But yeah, we're all together. And it's good."

"It's not candy, but it's still good. More, um, nutrients." Like Gamel cares. "You have to take care of yourself now, you can't just make a Yummy for more Cell Medals anymore."

'Like Gamel cares.' XD

Eat all the not-candy, tummy rumble less. "Less hungry!" Not delicious like candy, though.

Kazali weird. More nice. More like Mezul. "Want to live with Mezul."

Still smells so good. Petting kitty feels good. All very different and weird.

"Yeah!" I smirk a little. Gamel's really not so different. Which is a good thing. He was always the only remotely tolerable one of us. "You're feeling stuff now, really feeling things like we always wanted to. You know? But some things are bad. Feeling hungry is usually pretty bad."

Aw. I nod. "Hopefully you can live with Mezool. We'll find out soon, once I can figure out where she is." I check my phone, but Uva hasn't texted me back. I'm not sure if I could find their house if I needed to without directions.

"Kazali weird." Does Kazali know? "Nice, like Mezul."

Pick up kitty, feel with face. Very soft. I giggle. "Can I eat kitty?"

[catcameback]

I'm not about to shatter his illusions about Mezool, so I just laugh a little and shake my head. "Yeah, I guess I'm nicer than I used to be. I've been working on it."

He rubs his face against Yummy, who answers with an unknowing purr. "No!" I reach for my kitten immediately. "No, you can't eat kitty. That would be like eating Kazari, you don't want to eat me, do you?" He might, come to that. "Or Mezool?"

WHAT NO DO NOT WANT

Let Kazali take kitty. "Don't eat Mezul!"

Scared. Everything so different now. I am different now. "Why things different?" Does Kazali know?

Yummy doesn't know from anything, so he just climbs up on my shoulders. I stick a finger in my glass of milk and let him lap it off.

Glad I didn't order any sushi, even for myself. I'll save that for privacy. And maybe with Uva, he didn't seem to mind the potential connection between eating fish and Mezool.

"It's okay, Gamel. Don't worry, no one's going to eat Mezool. Or you, or anything. You're just feeling stuff. You'll get used to it, I promise."
