My eyebrow raises, completely of its own volition. "Deal," I say, totally aware that I don't give a shit about my own word. "So talk."

I take a seat, bringing on knee up and craning my neck to watch him intently. I've come this far, might as well let him know I'm interested.

Hmm, he's suddenly really into this. But I like attention and can probably handle him, so yeah.

"I've been there for thirteen years. My boss had the brilliant idea of dealing with a computer virus by transporting lots of people to what's basically an inescapable prison." I get he was wanting to save his kid, but I didn't even get to choose. Neither did anyone else. "I mean, yeah, okay, I did, but it took me a decade to build my base there! And I had no one but my evil egotist photobombing bug robot for company!" Dark days indeed.

"A computer virus?" The words are out of my mouth before I can stop them, and I sneer a bit at showing such a weakness. Before we go further I raise my hand to Shingo's head, sampling a bit of his memories to better understand what it is this...thing...is talking about.

It comes to me in a rush, and I nod. "So you've got this base in another dimension, and you're...what, projecting yourself here? Via...technology?" I spit the word out like it's poisonous, despite my constant usage of current technology.

"Bingo! I made myself an avatar. So now I can take a more proactive role in my rescuing." I give him look. "So, do you wanna know more, or do I finally learn to secret to how you keep your hair so perfectly coiffed, hmm?"

"Hmph." I might not like the guy, but I can't fault him for taking things into his own hands.

"It's natural," I say with a short shake of my head. It's the truth, or at least, close enough. "Tell me more."

[beetbuster]

"Really." I'm sorry, but hair that glorious doesn't come naturally. "Hmm, not really sure what else I can say." Partly because it's hard to explain to people who don't seem to have much experience, but also it sucks and I don't like talking about it too much. "Oh! I know! Vaglass has been making mini versions of it in this, dimension too! So you better watch out, or they might get ya!"

"Huh?" How does that even make sense? The bit about him being projected here might be true - especially considering what I can observe on my own - but the rest of him might be straight up idiotic.

He doubts my hair. Well, that's his problem, not mine. "I think I can take care of myself."

"Hey, I don't lie! I may... embellish, but never about stuff like this."

"You can take care of yourself? Funny, I thought the same thing until I got stuck there!" Ah, youth. "I know you're young, but it's important to be careful, okay?"

He's already forgotten what I told him about being sealed away. Stupid humans and their desires...specifically this one's desire to think only of himself.

"Whatever." I snort and turn away. I'm not about to walk off yet - there's still too much about him that doesn't click - but if he wants to leave first I won't stop him. It's not like I have anything to worry about, considering he's just a projection in the first place. Like he can accomplish anything like that.

"Aw, sorry, did I say something to offend?" I run up to pat him on the shoulder. "C'mon, let's be buds! Why do you care about subdimensions, anyways?"

He touched me.

I flinch away and turn to sneer at him, the talons on my right hand itching to rip into something. Obviously his projection takes on some sort of physical form, however, so that means he can injure me, and likely without taking any lasting damage to himself.

That's just not fair.

"Tch." I look away, a hair's breadth away from shoving him to the ground and walking in the opposite direction. "Why shouldn't I care?"
