I've got to get Gamel and Mezool back together, mostly because I'm not about to share my parents with Gamel, and also because Gamel really just wants Mezool back. And maybe this time around she can actually give a shit about him instead of just pretending to.

Also I told Ankh that I'd keep him informed and that maybe we should all get together sometime and make sure all the backstabbing and hating each other is in the past. Or at least something we're better able to control.

Also that was before Gamel came back, and so now we should probably all get together and talk about what the hell we're going to do if Maki comes back, too.

It takes some figuring out but in the end I send them all text messages telling them to come to the school, which is not in session today, so we can hang out in the courtyard and probably not be bothered.

I asked Megumi to help me make some food, because I think everyone would be in an awful mood if there wasn't any food. I guess it's like a picnic or something.

Ice cream for Ankh, he likes that, right? And no sushi, much to my unending disappointment. Don't want to put Mezool off. No chicken either, so it's mostly rice, vegetables, and sweets, that kind of stuff. I'll survive. I guess.

I bring Yummy too. He is the best cat in the entire world.

Now it's just a matter of waiting to see if they all show up. And whether my first instinct is to betray every single one of them. Again.

Kazali open basket with food. Will get food, give to Mezul!

Grab white ball things (not candy) and brown squishy things (not candy) and stripy sticks (candy!) and bring back to Mezul.

"See? Not all candy." Am proud.

"So I see," I reply, taking in the somewhat squashed food that he's holding out proudly. "That's good, Gamel."

I should go and see what else Kazari's brought, I suppose. I'm not eating Gamel's food, he needs to eat more things that aren't candy. They'd better be treating him well, wherever he's staying.

...Where is he staying? "Gamel, where are you staying? With good people?"

"I'm covered," I say, looking to the side. This is all still weird to me, but I can't do much else.

Thinking about it, I can't really want much else, either; as awkward as it is, we're really a family, I guess. Lines are awkward but we have a lot of history... so.

I look at the basket but decide I'm not hungry right now--I'm more interested in listening to what everyone has to say, and I'll get mine once everyone's eating theirs. Habit?

Ankh's question intrigues me. I'd gotten a pretty good idea where most of them were staying, except for Gamel of course. Not sure what to do with Gamel. My family can't keep him, and I think he needs to be with Mezool anyway.

I rock back on my heels a bit, my eyes keep drifting back towards Uva for some reason, which is really irritating me. Only not.

"You're not going to eat?" I ask. Innocent enough, right? I hope.

I listen as they speak, both to their answers to my question and their little conversations between each other. Observation, that was always my thing, probably coming from the animals I was based on, especially the Hawk core.

After a few more small mouthfuls of rice I set that aside, unwrapping one of the icepops Kazari so thoughtfully brought along.

"So, do... do any of us know why were here?" I take a bite from the icepop, letting it melt a bit on my tongue before I chew. "Not here today. I mean, why we're back?"

I pause, then swallow, then look down at the palm of my free hand. "Why we're human now?"

"Staying with...Kazali?" Eat white ball thing. Not tasty like candy.

Look at Mezul. Maybe stay with Mezul?

Put head on Mezul's knee. Comfy there.
