Amanogawa High School.

Not my first choice as far as first school to teach at goes, but considering my other 'job' it's probably the one where I'll be needed the most. I actually find it sort of amazing that the school is still running, let alone keeping the regular attacks on the students and faculty a secret. I only know about it from Ein and Zwein's careful surveillance from Beet-Vizor.

It's been almost six years since I've seen them in person - about as long as it's been since I've seen Gordo and Patora, but I assume America isn't as dull as being in space - I hope they're not lonely up there in orbit by themselves. I wish I could see them once in a while, but then, I barely see Takuto anymore with all his traveling, and Ad's taken to wandering in recent years too.

Stop that, Kane, I stop in my steps to breathe in and out and shake my head to clear it, get my focus back. It won't do to go and get all weepy on your first day of proper teaching.

I push my glasses up my nose and fix the sleeves of my jacket. Ad was supposed to be joining me here soon, I won't be completely alone for much longer.

There are also fellow teachers and my new students to get to know. Not to mention I have to keep my eyes open for signs of the dark forces at work here. Lots of things to keep my mind busy.

"You don't sound too sure about that," I say dryly, leaning back in my seat. "What happened? Got no-one to talk to or anything?"

He usually manages to get something, it's weird that he's so unsure.

I turn to look back at the school, reliving the sense memory of walking into the headmaster's office. Then... then nothing. "There were people there. I'm sure of it," I say. "I think."

"You think?" My eyebrows shoot up at that. I do not like this. "Go, what happened in there?"

He looks really worried, and I don't want him to be worried, but I can't pin it down. I want to just forget about it, because surely everything went fine otherwise I'd still be in there? But the expression on his face is making it impossible to forget.

I shake my head at last, in defeat. "I don't know."

"How can you not know?" I demand, torn between glaring at him for being so obtuse and checking him over for any sign of, I don't know, concussion.

I reach out and tilt his head forward, exploring gently for any bumps that might explain this. Although what he's doing getting concussions in a school is beyond me.

"Oi, is there something in my hair?" I ask worriedly. "Maybe I should just go back in."

I swat his shoulder irritably, then go back to my search. "I'm looking for any bumps on your head, idiot."

Well, there aren't any, hopefully that's something. "How many fingers am I holding up?"

...oh.

"One, and it's an offence to do that to a police officer," I say promptly.

"If it was the other way around," I say dryly, obliging him by switching. "Well, you don't seem concussed. Maybe Akira should take a look at you, though."

"Then you shouldn't do it to yourself?" I suggest, because now I'm getting confused, but he switches it around. I laugh, and reach out to swat him gently on the head.

..."You think?"

"I think you're confused about something you shouldn't be," I reply seriously. "I don't like it and I'd feel better if Akira checked you out, yeah."

And maybe we should start looking at this place as Gransazers instead of regular people.

I nod, and move around to get into the car beside him. I look at my seatbelt, lick my lips, then look at Jin. "Okay. Who's Akira?"

..."Who's..." I scowl at him, and start the car, trying not to panic. "You had better be kidding, Go," I tell him, hands tightening around the steering wheel. If he doesn't know who Akira is then we're so screwed.

I look at the road ahead of us, and shrug helplessly. "Name seems familiar...?" It's on the tip of my mind. "I know I should know her."

"Him," I say tightly. Fuck. What the hell happened in there? "Go, what's my name?" I need to figure out what the limits are on this thing: the more we know, hopefully the more Akira will be able to help.

"Jin," I say, more confident now. That one was easy. Moment I saw him, I knew it was Jin. Jin's a big part of my life.

Though a twitch crosses my face when I try to think of his family name.

"Full name?" I prompt with an exasperated sigh. "I meant my full name."

Although at least he knows who I am, that's something. I hope.

My eyes go wide with panic. Dammit, caught. I don't like making him this worried. "I... I'm sure it'll come back to me," I offer weakly. I can feel all sorts of things *just* out of reach.

I hiss between my teeth at that, gripping the wheel harder. I need to calm down and I force myself to relax my grip a little.

The sooner Akira can look at him the better.

"I hope so."

"How far away is Akira?" I ask softly. My knuckles are white where I'm gripping the dashboard.

"Far enough," I grumble. Why couldn't his hospital be closer, damn it. This is really inconvenient and unco-operative of him.

"Okay," I say, starting to feel sleepy. "Sorry," I manage eventually.

Oh nononono, no passing out. Even I know passing out right now would be bad. "Hey," I try. "Hey, no sleeping, Go, okay? Stay awake, at least until we get to the hospital."

"Just for a little while," I murmur comfortably, nestling against the door. "Don't worry."

"No," I say firmly, taking a hand off the wheel long enough to elbow him in the side. "No sleeping."

Not working. "Look, if you go to sleep I'm calling Akira right now. While I'm driving.

I know the feeling. >.> Also O:)
