I snort briefly at Kazari's blunt statement. Both about the collar and Joe, although I've never understood why he thinks that about him.
I worry at my bottom lip briefly. The past catching up with you is something I'm way too familiar with and I completely get why he doesn't want to deal with it, so that explains him.
"That guy," I say slowly. "He knows him from before, then?" From whatever Joe might or might not remember.
Knowing he wants to take Joe away from us makes my hands clench into fists at my sides. I'd never really expected to have a brother, especially after so long without one, but I got used to having him around and having someone wanting to take him away both hurts and pisses me off. Like Kazari said, they can't have him. He's ours now.
