Tetsuya tells me pointedly, subtext so strong that it's basically text, that he's delighted to see me but not so much if it's business. I head up the walk with him, sighing, half wishing I'd told Yuusuke and Megumi so I'd have company. But no, I charged off by myself so as not to worry anyone.

"Thank you. Both. Really," I say, smiling as they kiss. "Family's fine, generally. We've picked up another kid, and he's great."
I sigh. "But I'm here with a warning, as you've guessed."
