I fetched the first aid kit as soon as we were back aboard, and settle onto the seat beside him with composure, though I'm not above jabbing his hip with one of the kit's sharp implements to make him sit the hell up and leave me room to work. I do so for a few minutes, sanitizing the gash, putting pressure on both sides of it with my thumb and the knuckles of my middle and ring finger. My long fingers are useful in this case, because Marvey's wrist is easily encircled by my hands without my even trying that hard.
