I get up hastily and stand next to Leo, not in between Marvelous and him because Marvelous will burn through me with his eyes, but close enough that I can make it obvious that I'm not too worried about Leo.
Which isn't to say that I completely trust him, but he's done nothing to me, and he's had opportunities.
"No, no, no, I'm fine," I tell Ahim instantly, smiling at her. "He's from some kind of alternate universe. He's a fighter of some sort but he hasn't tried to attack me at all."
I appreciate him moving towards me, this Doc or Don, and shift subtly to protect him, even though it's from his own friends. At least the other two haven't moved forward, though the ones flanking me haven't moved.
"From... weird clothes world?" the boy with the bandana says. He seems antsy, and Leo hopes that he's not going to rush forward and attack.
Not that his colleague seems to need much help with holding a sword at my neck.
"I fight against demons," I tell the group, hoping that they do believe me. Spells are still not out of the question. "When I was going home with a friend, we got separated and I landed here."
His clothes ARE weird. He should investigate plaid.
I like plaid.
Gai and Ahim are still holding weapons, Luka and Joe are considering it, and stupid Marvelous has his sword out. Leo's holding his brush, too. Must be some form of weapon.
I reach out slowly, telegraphing my moves because I really don't like it when people on hair triggers react badly to things I'm doing, and use one hand to push down the sword, the other to push aside the brush.
"His name is Leo," I say calmly. Marvelous scowls at me but lets me move the sword. "And he just wants to go home. Leo, this is Joe, Ahim, Gai, Luka, and Marvelous, our captain."
I step back and bow. It seems the reasonable thing to do.
Don obviously doesn't want this turning into a fight. I don't either, though I don't put the brush away. "Pleased to meet you. Please treat me well."
They don't look very convinced, but the man in the red coat - Marvelous? - hasn't brought the sword back up. The trident is drooping and the gun has dropped down.
"So, where is he from? What kind of warriors do they have? Do they have sentai teams?" the boy with the bandana rushes forward after a moment.
"Makai Priest," I tell bandanna boy. "I help our Knights fight h-demons - the one I was working with was injured. I suppose you could say we were a sentai, but we don't really have teams other than maybe two Knights with a Priest."
The girl in Pink is pouring herself a cup of tea. The girl in yellow and the man in blue are starting to drift off from the conversation, but it's the kind of "drifting off" a Makai Knight would when there's still danger around.
Red - Marvelous - is watching me intently. He's sitting down in the chair in the middle of the room, but that doesn't mean he's taken his eyes off of me.
"No, they're stronger," I reply absently. Now that these people don't think I'm going to kill Don, I'm starting to remember what I was working on before they barged in. "I'm the support. Technical support, you might call it."
He's giving the cakes to the Captain. Bandana is still hovering around. "Don-san's the support for our team!" he volunteers. "He fights, too! So, you're kind of a team."
I have to smile at this. "I'm not as good a fighter as the Knights are." Even though I'm technically a Knight, I'm not going to mention that to them. I pick up my sword and place it next to the rest of my equipment. "But everybody involved in our world fights." Except the ones who don't.
That's something I never expected to hear. I do train with Kouga-san, but I've never done so as a Knight, and the rest of the world either doesn't know or is sworn to secrecy. "Here?" I ask, slightly dumbfounded.
"Something to do," Marvelous says lazily. I shrug, smiling, at Leo. I think Marvelous just wants to test him. All part of push, push, pushing people to their limits.
I'd really like to go home, but it's going to require some concentration, which I might not be able to achieve here. Don's shrug makes me wonder if this is normal for his world or at least his place.
"I can spar, if you want," I tell Marvelous, hefting my brush, "But I also need to work on getting home. My partner was wounded in the last fight." I'm sure that he's probably safe and getting medical attention on the Senate grounds, but I can't let that stop me. Besides, I have a lot to explain to him.
I resist mentioning that it's kind of silly for him to try. He clearly isn't familiar. Instead, I nod, returning to my things and starting to work on how to get home.
Bandanna boy is trying to ask something, but it looks like somebody's gagged him. The rest of the crew seem more or less interested in what I'm doing, and I figure that as long as it doesn't distract me from figuring out where I am, I don't mind them watching me.
I cast a spell, glyphs lighting up around me, as I reach out and try to figure out where I've landed.

"Um." I don't know how to respond for a moment.

"We could spar," Marvelous says speculatively.
