THE CAPTIVITY MEME

You've been captured -- or maybe you've been held captive for a while now. Whatever the case, you've lost your freedom, and there's a specific person responsible for that. You might be a prisoner, a mental patient, a kidnap victim, or someone's pet. Maybe you're there willingly, or maybe the choice has been taken away from you completely.

Both smut and non-smut scenarios are possible. If you don't want to play smut, please indicate so in the title line of your tag.

1. Leave a tag with your character. Be sure to include any limits on what you are willing to play, as this meme has the potential to be triggering.
2. Someone else tags in and uses RNG to generate a number between 1 and 9 (or pick your favorite). The second character is holding the first character captive now.

1. For their own good. Does this person really think they could make it on their own? It's a big, scary world out there, and you need to protect them from it, whether they like it or not.

2. For the good of society. Forget protecting this person -- it's your duty to protect the world from them! Maybe they committed a terrible crime, or maybe they were falsely condemned, but it's your job to keep them locked up where they can't do any more harm.

3. Because they're not well. How's your bedside manner? Whether you're Florence Nightingale or Mildred Ratched, you're in the position of ministering to the mentally ill. Maybe this person genuinely needs your help, or maybe you're just turning a blind eye to their true sanity.

4. For the money. Higher aims? What higher aims? This person is your meal ticket, and they're staying put until their loved ones pay up.

5. For their love. It might be a case of yandere, or it might be a consenting BDSM relationship. Whether it's by mutual agreement or by force, you're keeping them simply because you love them.

6. Because they're cute and fluffy. Who's a cutesy wutesy? They are! Yes, they are! This person is your pet now. Maybe they're a different species from you, or maybe you just don't care that you're both people. Maybe you're even an alien zookeeper looking after a new acquisition.

7. Because they're your property. Slave? Livestock? Who cares what they think - they're your property, and you decide their fate.

8. For the lulz. Hey, what's a little bondage between friends? You'll let them go, once you're done laughing and snapping photos... maybe.

9. Choose a scenario, or combine several.

This is all so complicated.

It's instinct. It's about as opposite from complicated as you can get. Or...it's supposed to be.

[Now RJ laughed, but it broke his control a little, so it turned into a growl before he could stop himself.]

His eyes closed again and he was silent for a few long moments as he re-composed himself. He didn't want to admit to Casey that it was getting harder each time.]

[Too late. He'd already heard the commotion from downstairs. He really wished Dom would stop goading Theo.
There was another growl, this time a protective one for one of his cubs.]

You are very welcome Casey. Now, would you please go tell Dom to act his age and stop terrorizing my cubs and poor Fran?

I -- uh -- I'll do what I can.



[oh boy, this should be fun, I'll just jump up and lightly run over to the stairs and down, smiling the whole way, everything's fiiiiiine RJ]

[RJ managed to keep himself together until Casey disappeared down the stairs. Then he lost control, pulling at the chains while snarling and even letting out a howl.

It was getting worse.]

[I explain the situation quickly to the others, and Theo glares at Dominic a few times until Dominic apologises. Sort of.]

[my head snaps around at the howl, and I gulp]

[guess I'm coming back up the stairs now to check on you]

[RJ was still pulling against the chains, growling and snarling. He tried to regain control again but it was proving no use.]

[perching on the end of the bed, closing my eyes]

[yeah, I've done some stupid things in my time but making myself this vulnerable this close to you when you're in this state, even when you're chained, may well take the cake and the rest of the bakery, too]

[slow, deliberate breaths]

[You would be right, Tiger Cub. The chains had enough give from where RJ was sitting that he could grab a handful of Casey's jacket and pull him in closer, so he could snarl right in his face.]

Should have stayed away, little cub.

[eyes wide, terrified, but not about to back off; am terrified for you at least as much as I am terrified *of* you]

Nope. I trust you, RJ.

[hocrap is right

RJ bent his head and sniffed at Casey's neck, his voice low and with a hint of a growl]

And yet you are still afraid of me. I can smell it on you.

[suppressing a shiver, also suppressing the tiger]

'course I am. I'm not completely stupid, and even chained up you're amazing.

But I trust you.

[spiritofthewolf]

[Growling laughter.]

You trust me even though I can tear you limb from limb, even with these chains? How naive little cub.

[GULP]

[I will react if you genuinely try, but I think I'm onto something in my own boneheaded way -- my best chance to stay intact and maybe reach you, is to keep offering no resistance. I think.]

[weakly] Well, naive people get more done because they don't know what's impossible, right?

[The grip in Casey's jacket tightened as RJ clenched his fists...and then he burst out laughing, a much lighter and more RJ like laugh then before, though the hint of a growl was still there.]

I think I'm rubbing off on you, Casey.

[And it allowed him to gain back a bit of control. He released Casey and sat back as far as he could away from his student as he struggled to maintain the bit of calm he'd found.]
