In which Sky feels funny...

[For spd_red but anyone who wants to play with a loopy Sky is more then welcome. Also, feel free to change the setting if you like.]

Looking back on the fight, Sky didn't remember getting hit with anything. Sure, he got some of the alien's weird smelling smoke to the face but he thought his shields had blocked most of it to the point that he hadn't even worried.

And even later, he still didn't think anything was wrong. In fact...he felt pretty darn good. He felt loose and relaxed and he couldn't wipe the happy smile off his face.

That should have been anyone's first clue that something was wrong.

The second was the fact that he was sitting in the common room, attempting to have pleasant conversations with everyone in the room. At least those who would talk to the Blue Ranger who usually only talked to his teammates. And was still beaming.

[grinning, with more naked affection than I'd show you in the normal course of things]

[jumps up, holds out a hand to you]

[He took the hand and stood up, but didn't let it go. Instead, his other hand came up to touch Jack's cheek.]

I like it when you smile like that at me.

[Which he did, all the time. He'd just never normally admit it.

He was also oblivious to the fact that everyone in the room was staring at them.]

[oh, jeez, this is appallingly embarrassing, and if you were trolling me I'd pull away with some lightly amused comment, but you actually mean it. I don't want to embarrass this version of you or the you who'll remember later. Doing my best to ignore onlookers]

[gentle] Thanks, Sky. C'mon.

[Sky might like to mess with Jack but this was going way too far. And embarrassment was already guaranteed. They will be lucky to get him away from his punching bag and out of his room after this.

But right now, he was very happy to keep hold of Jack's hand and follow him towards Boom and Bridge's lab.]

[spd_red]

[damn, damn, damn, to pull away from you and make us both unhappy? Or keep hold of your hand and make you extra embarrassed later? I guess the damage has already been done so I'll keep hold of your hand...]

[approaching the lab]

[something goes BANG inside, so this is me automatically shoving you back against the wall to cover you with my body]

[there would have been pouting if Jack had let go so he should be glad he didn't.

When the bang happened, Sky had automatically tensed to go into action, drugged or not. So with him pressing out and jack pressing him back, thier bodies were pressed tightly together against the wall. His eyes dropped to half closed and he bit his bottom lip at how good this felt . ]

Jack...[strained]

[spd_red]

[not going to tell you to shh, I can listen around you especially when your voice is that soft, but I'm still distracted by listening for any further dramas inside]

[I'll pull away in a moment to investigate, but for now have a distracted:] Mm?

[spd_blue]

[He leaned his head in, his nose pushing dreads aside as he spoke almost against Jack's cheek. He wanted Jack's attention on him and he'd pout if he had too.] Don't move. This feels good...

[spd_red]

[I can hear conversation from inside the lab, and while I can't make out words, obviously no one's panicking or crying out for help]

[so I can give you more attention-]

[whoa]

[swallows] I'm gonna have to move, Sky. Can't shove you up against the wall all day.

[spd_blue]

Why not?

[It would have sounded like a small child's pout except for the fact Sky hadn't moved from pressing against Jack or speaking up close.]

[...I really hate that I have to be self-controlled for both of us right now, because what I want to do is work a knee in between yours, and reach up a little to kiss you]

[pulling back off you is about the hardest thing I've ever done]

And because you'll be really embarrassed later, if someone saw you like this with me.

[At the moment, that's exactly what Sky wanted Jack to do. If he could focus on anything period.]

Who cares if anyone sees? I don't.

[Later, he would refuse to even talk about this. But right now, Jack was getting a full pout as he pulled away. Thankfully, he felt too lucid to protest but he did keep hold of Jack's hand.]

Why would I be embarrassed to be seen with you? I like you Jack.

[a laugh, open and appreciative]

I like you, too, Sky. But you don't like me so much normally. And you're gonna be embarrassed enough about all this.


[I don't believe in the slightest that you actually LIKE like me in the normal way of things. I believe you like me as a friend, kinda. It has to be whatever's messing with you.]

Right now isn't normally? I like you just fine. And that's not going to change.

[He really was out of it for that fact that he really didn't notice anything was wrong. And Jack would be surprise how honest Sky was being at this very moment..]

[spd_red]

[I am beginning to really goddamn hate today]

[imagine having to protect pissy you from the nice things you're saying right now]

[not that I don't like pissy you; in fact I like him a lot, and I wouldn't want you to never ever be your pissy self, but sheesh]

[yeah, I'd be very surprised to learn that you're being that honest, instead of it being "I suppose you're okay and sometimes I like you plus whee I'm basically drugged to the gills"]

That's good. C'mon, let's see the boys.

[And that was one of the things normal!Sky liked about Jack, he put up with his pissy self and threw it right back. He was a challenge, an equal challenge, which was something Sky hadn't had in a long time.

Since Dru left.

But now Sky just grinned, his attention on something else now.]

Yes! Let's go see Bridge and Boom. I want to see what they are working on. [Which usually only gets a polite interest. Now it's cool.]

[spd_red]

[I didn't really give a damn about giving you grief when we first met, wasn't too worried about whether you liked me or hated me. But when I started to get a little less selfish, and started to realise just how much I could rely on you, and how much I enjoyed bantering with you and having you banter right back in your own way... then I realised I was screwed.]

[double take at that]

[amused] Okay. Just stay behind me in case there's another explosion, yeah?

[Yep. Time skip.]

[The reply to Jack's protectiveness had just been a light roll of his eyes (the most Sky like thing he'd done in hours) and a tug on Jack's hand.

A little while, numerous tests and a trip to the infirmary later, it was determined that Sky was fine, just suffering from the effect of the smoke blown in his face, which besides making him basically high, had no real side effects. It would wear off in a little while on it's own.

Really, Sky didn't see what the big deal was. He felt great!]

You'll have dinner with me, right Jack?

[It was asked innocently and without thought as they walked away from the infirmary.]

[I'm relieved as anything, though startled at how patient you were about all the testing]

It's a date.

[said with unthinking cheerfulness, followed by a blush and a half]

[It was clearly the drugs. A normal Sky would have been stonily silent and throwing glares at everyone as he reluctantly cooperated. Unlike this one, that had been relaxed, smiling and even helpful during the process.]

A date? [He liked this idea and beamed at Jack.] A date! Let's go on a date. I like this idea. [Pause] Why are you blushing?

[spd_red]

[ah, there's that headache starting up, I've been expecting it]

[wry, self-deprecating, absolutely no blame attached to you whatsoever] Because I have some idea of how much you'd hate this normally. So let's eat in your room, okay? Or we can go to mine if you're worried about Bridge coming in smelling of smoke.

[spd_blue]

I wish people would stop telling me how I would feel normally. I feel fine. [the only hint of his moment of exasperation was a roll of his eyes then he was over it, unlike his usually habit of brooding.] Let's go to yours. You have more room after all. Plus, Bridge might want to join us in our room and that's not a date.

[spd_red]

Okay, okay, I'm glad you feel fine.

That's not a -- [misses a step, nearly walks into the wall]

Yeah, sure, you're right. The food slot in my room's been working okay lately, since Bridge had a go at it, though he did superpower it kinda. We can just get something once we get there.

[spd_blue]

[When Jack almost runs into the wall, Sky can't help but bust out laughing.] How do you almost walk into a wall when you can walk through them?

[Doesn't think twice about taking Jack's hand again.] How's the pizza? I think I'm in the mood for pizza.

[spd_red]

[rueful] It takes skill.

[squeezes back automatically, liking the warmth of your hand]

Pizza's not bad. If you don't mind picking marshmallows off it first.
