Why is it called a Switch anyway? It's obviously a button.

To press, then, or not to press? That is the question.

"That's great," I say, pausing to give him my full attention for a moment. Rude of me otherwise. I grin. "You remember your lunch this morning, or do you need some cash?"

He actually stops and faces me instead of continuing about his business. Still taking some getting used to, actually having attention paid to me. "I brought something." And it's true. Like I was going to leave the house without food. I hope never to feel the initial hunger upon waking ever again.

"You're more organised than I am," I tell him ruefully, but then it's not too hard. I manage really well in *some* areas of my life. "I often make my own but even then Megumi has to sneak it into my bag."

I duck my head and shrug my shoulder. Compliments are weird. I like the way it makes me feel, though. "I do my best." I actually do quite a bit more than my best, but there you are. "You should be more cautious. Hunger is a terrible thing."

[yellowlion]

...Oh, look at him. Showing caring, in his own way, at least. "It is," I agree cheerfully. "But I'll never learn."

I squint at him. Then I smile. "Well, you have a lot on your mind."

[yellowlion]

"Exactly. Thank you," I say smugly. "Somehow that doesn't cut it when I forget stuff, but still! Thank you!"

I smile. "As long as it works for you. Who do you have to impress besides yourself?"

[yellowlion]

I grin. "My family, in particular. Megumi. Yuusuke, Katsumi. Joe. You."

[catcameback]

I tilt my head at him, then chuckle softly. "I can't speak for the others, but I must admit, you have already done an admirable job of impressing me."

[yellowlion]

My eyes go wide with delight. "No. No way! Oh, you'll go a long way, Kazari, silver tongue like that."

I juggle the box into one arm, and reach out awkwardly to clap him on the shoulder. "Very kind of you."

I shake my head. "It's not a compliment, nor is it a lie. You are possibly the most selfless human I've ever met. It's... shocking, it's practically worthy of examining."

[yellowlion]

"Comes with the territory, really," I tell him apologetically, though I'm still grinning. Whether or not he thinks it's 'the truth', it's still a compliment to say it, and he's understanding humanity much more than he did in the first few days. "With the job."

I blink at him curiously. "Do mean you being a teacher? Or being a parent?" Which one did he actually consider his 'job'? Both?

[yellowlion]

.....oh, good question. "Both, I guess," I agree, nodding. "Same with my previous, um, position."

Does he know? Has he learned enough about humanity to find out, to work Google?

I blink at him, then take a step back to contemplate him more completely. He's not particularly old, is he? How many professions can one man claim? "I'm sure."

[yes, cats aren't too fond of computers]

I grin. "Well, whether or not you know what it was, it's kind of bred into us," I say apologetically. "Though it's still a compliment."

I nod. "Well, I suppose in that case consider yourself complimented."

I do like him. Still so very strange. Maybe I should show him the Switch.

[yellowlion]

"And I'll return the compliment," I say gravely. "I really appreciate the efforts you've made to learn, to fit in, to help out."

"Unnecessary." I shake my head. "I'm doing my best to evolve."
