It's good to be back in Japan. France was nice, but there's something about being home that just feels right.

I fall back into my sushi peddling ways with ease, putting my old cart to good use as I walk the city in search of customers. Daigoyou and my origamis are wonderful company, but I do miss being one of Take-chan's samurai.

Just a bit.

I set my cart in a nicely populated area, there's a school that's just getting out nearby, and lots of people milling about. I rest my hands on my hips and nod with determination.

"Gold Sushi, open for business!"

"He works very hard to provide the deserving with sushi. It's the least I can do."

I know that what I'm saying makes me sound nothing like Shiraishi Mako, but there's no way for me to work around it. Whoever was responsible for installing my upgrades didn't really understand human speech patterns and behaviour. If I raise it with Takeru, there's a risk of my being decommissioned entirely. I'm not sure that's a risk I want to take.

I blink rapidly as I take in her words. She doesn't sound like herself at all.

I crane up to gently press the back of a hand against her forehead.

I don't know what she's doing but I may as well let her play around. It's not like she can see anything. All my modifications are internal, though I do sometimes hear a worrying crunch of metal if I incline my head too sharply.

[samuraisister]

"You don't feel right, Mako-chan," I say worriedly, though it's not that she feels particularly hot, OR particularly cold. She just doesn't feel right. "Would you like to sit down? I think Gen-chan's cart is doing well enough for now."

I sit. Nothing happens. I don't know what she was expecting to happen.

She looks kind of odd.

I sit down next to her, and carefully put an arm around her.

Nope, still nothing happening. My new systems carefully make a does not compute note.

"I am now restored to full functionality," I inform her in the vague hope it will make her go away.

[samuraisister]

She sounds like a computer.

"Mako-chan? D-Did something happen to you?"
