THE CAPTIVITY MEME

You've been captured -- or maybe you've been held captive for a while now. Whatever the case, you've lost your freedom, and there's a specific person responsible for that. You might be a prisoner, a mental patient, a kidnap victim, or someone's pet. Maybe you're there willingly, or maybe the choice has been taken away from you completely.

Both smut and non-smut scenarios are possible. If you don't want to play smut, please indicate so in the title line of your tag.

1. Leave a tag with your character. Be sure to include any limits on what you are willing to play, as this meme has the potential to be triggering.
2. Someone else tags in and uses RNG to generate a number between 1 and 9 (or pick your favorite). The second character is holding the first character captive now.

1. For their own good. Does this person really think they could make it on their own? It's a big, scary world out there, and you need to protect them from it, whether they like it or not.

2. For the good of society. Forget protecting this person -- it's your duty to protect the world from them! Maybe they committed a terrible crime, or maybe they were falsely condemned, but it's your job to keep them locked up where they can't do any more harm.

3. Because they're not well. How's your bedside manner? Whether you're Florence Nightingale or Mildred Ratched, you're in the position of ministering to the mentally ill. Maybe this person genuinely needs your help, or maybe you're just turning a blind eye to their true sanity.

4. For the money. Higher aims? What higher aims? This person is your meal ticket, and they're staying put until their loved ones pay up.

5. For their love. It might be a case of yandere, or it might be a consenting BDSM relationship. Whether it's by mutual agreement or by force, you're keeping them simply because you love them.

6. Because they're cute and fluffy. Who's a cutesy wutesy? They are! Yes, they are! This person is your pet now. Maybe they're a different species from you, or maybe you just don't care that you're both people. Maybe you're even an alien zookeeper looking after a new acquisition.

7. Because they're your property. Slave? Livestock? Who cares what they think - they're your property, and you decide their fate.

8. For the lulz. Hey, what's a little bondage between friends? You'll let them go, once you're done laughing and snapping photos... maybe.

9. Choose a scenario, or combine several.

I can't stop pulling at my bonds, snarling at the stranger, trying to escape.

"Let me go," The snarl escapes me without my conscious intervention. "I'm of no use to you, stranger."

[surprisingwolf]

"Stay still," I tell him plaintively. "I'm trying to help you."

I wonder if he can even feel the wet washcloth and what he's interpreting it as.

The command is fairly confident. Hopeful. Wishful, maybe? Whoever he is, this stranger, he seems to think he is on my side somehow. Trying to help.

I settle for a moment, trying to see him clearly, if just for a moment or two. "What do you want?"

[surprisingwolf]

"I want you to stay still and get better." I could tell from when I grabbed him that he's a fighter. And like most of us, he doesn't know how to stay down. Not that I'm any better.

He calms down. I hope he stays that way.

I'm not sure if I believe that, but he seems sincere enough. I don't recognize him, anyway, so he's probably not Zangyack.

"Why am I tied up?"

[surprisingwolf]

"It was either that, or you'd keep attacking me." I smile ruefully. The man on the bed isn't happy, but at least he seems coherent. I'm not about to tell him about the door ward, though.

I pant softly. I'm tied up, I'm distressed...

"You're not Zangyack?" I ask weakly. I look up, trying to meet the strangers' eyes.

[surprisingwolf]

I shake my head. "I don't even know what that is. You mentioned it when you attacked me, but...."

It's something important to him. Something dangerous.

[gibken]

Breathe, Joe. Breathe.

I squint at him, but he's completely unfamiliar to me. Former Sentai? Probably... No, they all know about Zangyack.

One of those... Kame Rider... Turtle Rider? That doesn't make sense.

Kamen, right. Gai doesn't put a lot of stock in them anyway.

Maybe not that either.

"You're not... going to kill me." Maybe don't mention the bounty on my head right off. If he doesn't know about it, he can't use it.

He doesn't know what to make of me. I don't mind as long as he doesn't rip his ropes off and try to attack me.

I shake my head. "I'm interested in making sure you stay alive."

I wonder what he thinks I am.

[gibken]

I'm not sure if I believe him, but then again, I'm not sure why he'd lie. If he's lying about this, he's probably also lying about being affiliated with Zangyack.

I think maybe I'm screwed either way, but I don't have the energy left to keep struggling.

"Where's the rest of my crew?"

[surprisingwolf]

"Crew?" He'd been alone when I found him. I shake my head. "You were muttering something about 'Marvelous' when I found you, but you were alone. I started to bandage you up when you attacked me."

I do know enough to look for medical help, but when he attacked me, I couldn't risk endangering them. There's no Horror here, but he was still talking and moaning.

That... doesn't sound good. I shake my head again, trying to clear it, but nothing's working. Everything's still hazy. Confusing. Frustrating.

Why was I alone? How often does that really happen.

"Is this Earth?" I ask finally.

[surprisingwolf]

I'm not sure why he'd be asking that, but I answer him anyway, if only to hear what he says next. "Yes. Why shouldn't it be?"

I'm sure the confusion shows in my voice. He's delusional. He has to be.

[gibken]

He thinks I'm insane.

Fair point, I am not exactly stable.

But I'm not delusional.

"Because I'm not from Earth, originally, neither is most of my crew."

It's the truth, though, damn it.

[surprisingwolf]

I know better than to disbelieve him. There are pathways that I know about that most people don't. His people may not call their world "Earth", but that doesn't mean he isn't.

Or he could still be delusional. But as long as he's not hitting me, it's not something I have to deal with. "Most of your crew?" I repeat. I want to listen to him more before I loosen the ropes.

He makes no move to free me, but if our roles were reversed, I'd probably still be standing over him too.

I don't feel injured, so there's a small blessing. "Well, there's six of us, and only one is an Earthling, I think that constitutes 'most'."

[surprisingwolf]

He is delusional. I cradle the bloody rag in my hands, wondering if he'd be in danger if I let him go. There are Horrors who consider delusional people their favorite snack.

But at least he can't leave the room.

"I'll let you up if you promise not to attack me and let me finish binding your wounds," I tell him.

Is all that blood mine? Probably. That would explain a lot, actually.

But not what I'm doing here. Or why he thinks I'm insane.

He's never heard of Zangyack.

Time slips are one thing, but I'm really hoping against hope that there's no multi-dimensional portal shenanigans going on here.

"I won't attack you." I promise softly. "Where's my Mobirates?"

I point towards the bedside stand. There had been an object in his pockets - two, actually. I'd stuck them there because there was noplace else to put them. "Is that it?" I ask.

If he isn't delusional, or even if he is, I might be putting myself at a disadvantage. But then again, I have my sword and my brush.

I reach for the ropes and start working him loose. I know he's not going anywhere.

I settle down and let him untie me. I feel a lot more at ease knowing my Mobirates is at hand. "Yes, that's it." Maybe once he's done bandaging me, I can try to get a call through to Marvelous or one of the others and figure out where I am.

"Who are you?"

[surprisingwolf]

"Fudou Leo." I bob briefly in his direction. His back was in better shape than his front, but I had to put cleaning it on hold when he attacked. Once he sits up, I'll work on it. "Let me look at your back. You were injured badly."

I'll get his name later, when I'm sure he'll give me a real one.

I wish I knew where I was. Why I attacked him. How I got injured in the first place.

"Yeah, alright." I wince a little as I sit up. That definitely does not feel good.

[surprisingwolf]

"Your shirt's a loss," I tell him. I'd had to cut it off. "And of course it's hot for a jacket." He'll have to be topless for a while.

I settle down and look at his back. Several of the cuts look red and infected, and I'm not surprised that he was in bad shape. I take a fresh cloth and dip it in water, making sure he sees what I'm doing. He might have to go to a doctor, when he's not likely to blurt that he's not from Earth.

I wish I knew a doctor who could deal with such a patient. But then again, I don't deal with regular doctors much.

"That's fine." It's just a shirt. As long as my jacket's not destroyed. I hope.

I let this Leo sit behind me, glancing over. He's just cleaning the wounds. No big deal. I grit my teeth against the pain.

"You think I'm delusional." I point out. I'm not the type to beat around the bush. "I promise you I'm not."
