THE CAPTIVITY MEME

You've been captured -- or maybe you've been held captive for a while now. Whatever the case, you've lost your freedom, and there's a specific person responsible for that. You might be a prisoner, a mental patient, a kidnap victim, or someone's pet. Maybe you're there willingly, or maybe the choice has been taken away from you completely.

Both smut and non-smut scenarios are possible. If you don't want to play smut, please indicate so in the title line of your tag.

1. Leave a tag with your character. Be sure to include any limits on what you are willing to play, as this meme has the potential to be triggering.
2. Someone else tags in and uses RNG to generate a number between 1 and 9 (or pick your favorite). The second character is holding the first character captive now.

1. For their own good. Does this person really think they could make it on their own? It's a big, scary world out there, and you need to protect them from it, whether they like it or not.

2. For the good of society. Forget protecting this person -- it's your duty to protect the world from them! Maybe they committed a terrible crime, or maybe they were falsely condemned, but it's your job to keep them locked up where they can't do any more harm.

3. Because they're not well. How's your bedside manner? Whether you're Florence Nightingale or Mildred Ratched, you're in the position of ministering to the mentally ill. Maybe this person genuinely needs your help, or maybe you're just turning a blind eye to their true sanity.

4. For the money. Higher aims? What higher aims? This person is your meal ticket, and they're staying put until their loved ones pay up.

5. For their love. It might be a case of yandere, or it might be a consenting BDSM relationship. Whether it's by mutual agreement or by force, you're keeping them simply because you love them.

6. Because they're cute and fluffy. Who's a cutesy wutesy? They are! Yes, they are! This person is your pet now. Maybe they're a different species from you, or maybe you just don't care that you're both people. Maybe you're even an alien zookeeper looking after a new acquisition.

7. Because they're your property. Slave? Livestock? Who cares what they think - they're your property, and you decide their fate.

8. For the lulz. Hey, what's a little bondage between friends? You'll let them go, once you're done laughing and snapping photos... maybe.

9. Choose a scenario, or combine several.

"Fudou Leo," I say as I reach the door. "Welcome back."

I wonder what he's going to say this time. Given how he was found, I still don't believe him a threat to us. At least, not actively. But he has information I need.

I blink, surprised. But of course Sakurada-san would be the one to greet me. He's at least sympathetic to me - maybe I can clear up whatever's going on, get my belongings, and go home. I feel naked without my wand.

"Sakurada-san." I bow slightly. "Sorry for the disruption." I don't really want to go into things, but I think he'll at least be able to listen and to be sympathetic.

I run my hand through my hair and give him a rueful look. "All part of the job, as I'm sure you know. Are you all right? Do you need medical attention?"

I shift, wincing a little. "It's pretty much all bruising." My armor at least protected me from most of it. One or two cuts, which should heal on their own, though I'm sure that I've bled onto my clothes a little. We're tough people, though. We have to be.

And it's not like the guards hurt me. Pointed weapons, yes. Hurt me, no.

"I'll be all right once I get home." Hopefully he'll take that hint.

"I'll get some ice packs, at least," I tell him. "If you want a doctor to look you over, I can provide that too."

I nod. "I want you to go home, too, but first off I need to know what that was. And how it was controlling our people."

Muse is more injured than he thinks, but heck if I can get him to realize that.

I'm pretty sure, since I've had a chance to research things, that Horrors don't exist here. I'm a little reluctant to tell him, because Horrors are not something that people like hearing about, but he has the right to know what came onto the base.

"That was a Horror," I tell him. "A monster, a demon, born of human vices." I shake my head. "A lot of Horrors can control humans - though most of them are more interested in eating the humans than using them. Your staff probably would have been eaten after amusing it, but it needed them to try to stop me."

*nods* Hiromu's hopeless with emotional signals but good with physical signals, he'll figure it out

I sigh.

"You realise we have nothing like that in our databanks?" Which doesn't mean he's lying. It just means we're completely caught short. "How do we fight it? How do YOU fight it?"

...he's not moving right. I think it's more than bruises.

At least one of them is.

"It might be that they haven't found their way to your world... at least until today." I hope that the Horror made a mistake, rather than knowing where this world is.

I give him a small smile. Hopefully, there's nothing to worry about. "Magic." And swordfighting, which they can figure out.

Shifting a little, I hope that icepacks are all I need. Well, that, and getting my things back.

"There have been other reports of things that are most likely these Horrors," I say flatly. Not angry at him, at least not until and unless I find out it's his fault they're here.

I rub my forehead. "Magic. Really. I'll call for a doctor for you, and you can explain further while we wait, if you're up to it."

[surprisingwolf]

They've been regularly invaded by Horrors? My eyes widen as Sakurada-san calls for a doctor that I don't really need.

I'm not used to seeing regular doctors, of course.

"Then it's my fault. When I arrived here...." I must have opened a way for the Horrors to come. Either when I was coming or leaving. "If Horrors are appearing here, they might have followed me."

If that's happened, I'll have to stay. I'll miss the wedding, but I'll do it if I have to.

"It was from before when you first 'visited'," I say wryly, but immediately. "Whatever brought you might be responsible for them, too, but I have no reason to believe it was you yourself."

The doctor arrives, and I key in the code to allow both of us through. I have no reason to believe Leo will attack her, but standard procedure is that someone should be armed and close enough to act, while a prisoner's being attended to.

I let the doctor check me over as I think about what he said, though it hurts when the shirt comes off. Possibly more than bruises and cuts then, unless the cuts were deeper than I thought. Sakurada-san is watching as she pokes and prods and frowns at me.

I would have preferred to go home and get healed normally, but I was right the first time - I have a duty here. I might miss Kaoru-san and Kouga-san's wedding, but I'm a Knight. I have a responsibility to these people, even if my arrival was accidental. Horrors are my issue, not theirs.

The doctor comes into my sight, looking at me. "Several deep cuts, some possibly torn muscles, swelling. Some of the cuts are looking pretty nasty, so I'm going to clean them, all right?"

I wince, but that doesn't seem to deter her at all as she reaches for her kit.

I fold my arms and allow myself to slouch just a little. "I'm the same," I say wryly. "Never notice when I'm fighting, but afterwards it all hits me. Doctor's experienced, though, knows what she's doing."

I wonder... "Have you had any dimensional incursions into your world, that you know of? Is our world leaking into yours?"

The doctor starts working on my wounds. I his as she cleans them out, arching my back to get away from the pain. That being said, I know she means well.

To concentrate on something other than thudding the doctor - I know my hosts would take that amiss - I concentrate on Sakurada-san's question. "I don't think so," I tell him. Of course, I don't always notice such things. "There haven't been any reports of that Enertron thing." I think that's the right word.

"So it's just yours into ours, then," I say quietly. "Plus others, into ours."

This can't be good.

At least the doctor has finished cleaning my wounds, and started bandaging them instead. That hurts less.

Did she check my legs? I don't remember, and I'm not sure I want to ask. I can check myself later.

"Others?" What's going on here?

But even if there's nothing i can do about the other universes, the presence of Horrors means that I'd have to stay here. Or that at least I should. Maybe when someone comes to rescue me this time, I'll send them back with the question.

"There have been various disturbances. Some which cannot be connected to your universe... at least, not yet," I admit. "Including a ghost or two."

[surprisingwolf]

"I... don't usually deal with ghosts, I admit," I rub my head and find a lump. Oops. Dropping my hand, I add, "One of my friends and I once found something that wasn't a Horror or something natural, but it was long gone by the time we figured it out.

It's not entirely the truth, but I don't know how to explain it any other way.

"Neither do we," I say tersely. Dammit. If he had some knowledge of ghosts I might be able to use it. "We're science based, but I'm beginning to learn ore about other teams."

"What kind of thing was it?"

My hand goes behind my head automatically. "I don't think we ever found out."

...that was an odd reaction.

"Do you know any more about travelling between your dimension and ours?" I ask urgently. "How to close it off? How to do it intentionally? We need your assistance, Fudou Leo."

[surprisingwolf]

I perk up at that. At least if I have to stay here, I'll be welcome. I hope.

"I did some research into accidental travel after I went home," I tell him. "I don't know how to seal off gates, but I know it's possible."

I may not know how to do it specifically, but I can figure it out. I'll have to do that from here, because I don't know if I could open a gate back to this place. Returning home was the easy part.

I make a decision. "Will you come with me to one of the sites?"

"Yes." If these are Horrors, and I should make sure they are, it's my duty to make sure they're gone from here.

I'm hesitant to ask for the next part, but I'm not able to do anything if I don't have at least some of my gear. "I'll need my brush." If he's seen video of me leaving, he knows I use one.

I raise my eyebrows. "Of course."

I start making preparations, calling in to the Commander, and so forth. "Standard procedure requires me to advise you that there will be others around us, who'll stop you if you attempt to use your weaponry against us. But I don't personally believe that will be a problem."
