He's eating fast. I don't know if that's a good thing, but I can imagine Gonza-san's horrified look if I at that fast.

Thinking about that just about keeps me from blushing at his remarks. "Thanks."

I start on my own snack, savoring every bite.

"You're welcome!" I'm almost done with the cake, and am working my way into the pie. "So, how long have you been living here? I just got here." By running away from home, but no need to tell him that. But it can't hurt to have a few friends in this town, especially if I'm no longer counting on my family. "I'm guessing awhile, since you seem to know good places to eat."

He cheerfully chatters away at me. I savor my food. "I know something about the area, yes." Though mostly because I was actually looking for a gate to close while waiting for Kouga-san.

My companion is eating so fast I'm surprised he hasn't given himself a stomachache. I'm going to get one just by watching him, I swear.

"Oh, really?" Awesome. "So do you have a job, or school or what?" Okay, done with the pie, now for the ice cream~

"I have a job." I'm still surprised at how fast he's eating. "And you? How did you end up here?"

I prefer machines to humans. But talking to him isn't going to hurt me.

I freeze mid-bite. "Well. Y'know. I got bored of my old town and stuff." Which is all true. But I also found out what my 'father' was up to, and yeah. Not going to go back. Ever.

Even I know something's wrong. But I'm not sure I should say anything. Unless his issues had to do with a Horror, it's not something I should worry about.

"I got tired of my old home as well," I tell him, hoping that it makes him untense. "So I came here."

"Oh. Cool." I feel a bit better now. The food also helps, of course! "Yeah, I'm hoping this place will be less of a pain, how about you?"

Everything's connected, of course. *wry grin*

"The same with me." I bow a little. "I'm Fudou Leo. You are?"

It'll pass the time until Kouga-san comes, at the very least, and if I can figure out where this person comes from, I can take a look at things.

Leo, okay. I grin back. "I'm Hikaru." Probably best if I don't give my last name right now.

"Is your home a long ways away, Hikaru?" I ask politely. I don't need to know where it is, but a general idea might be nice. "I came from halfway across the country because I was reassigned here."

I work on the remains of my ice cream, thinking of ways to talk to him.

"Wow, seriously?" This is the furthest I've been from home, ever. "Man, your job must be intense, Leo."

"Um, mine's closer," I admit. "I walked and took a bus."

So, whatever happened to him, he doesn't live so far away that he's out of our territory. Or at least Kouga-san's territory. I should be getting back to mine.

"It keeps me fairly busy," I admit. It's going to be difficult tracing where he came from, but at least it's a start. "And fed."

And fed, hunh? "That must be nice--" Crap, letting on too much. "So, um," and I do my best to smile, "How 'bout dessert to finish it all off?"

He suddenly doesn't want to talk. I wish Kaoru-san was here; she'd get it out of him fairly quickly.

"You have room for food after this?" I'm full after the ice cream.

"I always have room for food," I admit frankly. "Mama used to say that..." Oh. right.

I wish I would stop remembering the sight of her body so vividly. And randomly.

Plot dumps can be fun!

Something happened to him. I remind myself that it probably isn't Horrors. After all, humans are perfectly capable of vices on their own.

It's probably attracting Horrors, still. I'll have to do some magic when I get back and figure out if anything's flaring up in the area.

"You mean that your parents are dead, too."

"... My mom's dead." Suddenly, the food doesn't look too appealing. "My dad... I don't even know what to call him anymore."

I nod. "I stopped talking to my father... before. My mother died when I was young." I'm not good at this interpersonal stuff.

Still, I have to be proud of what I've gotten out of him.

I want to know if this is natural or supernatural, but there's no way he'd know. "Um."

"Seriously? That sucks. I'm really sorry." Death is still a relatively new concept to me, so I'm not entirely sure what I should/shouldn't say. I still feel bad for him.

I huff, glaring out the window. Why couldn't have my asshole father have died instead of our moms?

"It was a few years ago." I look at the ice cream bowl. "Can I ask what happened to your father?"

I'm sure I'm making a mistake. But I have to get to the bottom of this.

I look around-- Papa's goons are (probably) not around, but it's hard to ignore what's second nature at this point. "He killed my mom," I admit darkly. I'm not really sure why-- maybe I just need to tell someone who may believe me this time. "But no one believes me." I don't care what I saw. That-- that monster killed my mother. I saw it.

Horror-related? That's what I keep coming back to. But I don't know if he'll tell me anything. Kouga-san is intimidating. I can be, but I don't like to be.

He looks scared enough as it is, but I want to know more. "How long ago?"

Murders shouldn't be that hard to find, even here.

lol I've only seen the 3D movie of Garo, sry, hope this is vague enough to fit that canon

"Two weeks ago." I really shouldn't be telling him all this. Even if he doesn't call the cops, I'm putting him in danger. I guess I'm just so relieved that he's taking me seriously, the words are coming out at this point. "Mama and Papa were arguing. Again." They always had-- Mama used to say I had the misfortune of inheriting both their tempers-- but it'd been getting steadily worse. "But then this-- I don't know, this monster came out right from behind Papa, and it... gobbled her up." Just like in a fairy tale. "It didn't even leave behind her clothes. There was no body, so no one believed me." I lean back in my seat. "So I had to leave before Papa could do the same to me."

That's the only thing I can think of at the moment. But he's right - nobody would believe him.

Except me. And anybody else that was trained in this kind of thing.

"Did it just appear behind your father, or appear from your father?" I ask. I know I shouldn't be asking a regular person this, but I have to know.
