THE CAPTIVITY MEME

You've been captured -- or maybe you've been held captive for a while now. Whatever the case, you've lost your freedom, and there's a specific person responsible for that. You might be a prisoner, a mental patient, a kidnap victim, or someone's pet. Maybe you're there willingly, or maybe the choice has been taken away from you completely.

Both smut and non-smut scenarios are possible. If you don't want to play smut, please indicate so in the title line of your tag.

1. Leave a tag with your character. Be sure to include any limits on what you are willing to play, as this meme has the potential to be triggering.
2. Someone else tags in and uses RNG to generate a number between 1 and 9 (or pick your favorite). The second character is holding the first character captive now.

1. For their own good. Does this person really think they could make it on their own? It's a big, scary world out there, and you need to protect them from it, whether they like it or not.

2. For the good of society. Forget protecting this person -- it's your duty to protect the world from them! Maybe they committed a terrible crime, or maybe they were falsely condemned, but it's your job to keep them locked up where they can't do any more harm.

3. Because they're not well. How's your bedside manner? Whether you're Florence Nightingale or Mildred Ratched, you're in the position of ministering to the mentally ill. Maybe this person genuinely needs your help, or maybe you're just turning a blind eye to their true sanity.

4. For the money. Higher aims? What higher aims? This person is your meal ticket, and they're staying put until their loved ones pay up.

5. For their love. It might be a case of yandere, or it might be a consenting BDSM relationship. Whether it's by mutual agreement or by force, you're keeping them simply because you love them.

6. Because they're cute and fluffy. Who's a cutesy wutesy? They are! Yes, they are! This person is your pet now. Maybe they're a different species from you, or maybe you just don't care that you're both people. Maybe you're even an alien zookeeper looking after a new acquisition.

7. Because they're your property. Slave? Livestock? Who cares what they think - they're your property, and you decide their fate.

8. For the lulz. Hey, what's a little bondage between friends? You'll let them go, once you're done laughing and snapping photos... maybe.

9. Choose a scenario, or combine several.

[Casey, Lily and Theo were going to save the world. It was RJ's job to protect and teach them.

The prowling caused a growl to erupt from RJ's throat, one predator to another, and his eyes immediately snapped shut again and the chains rattled.]

Come meditate with me [Voice slightly strained] It will help me concentrate.

[I'm frowning, now, because I know I'm making things harder for you and I'm not entirely sure why, and not entirely sure if I should stick around]

You sure? You're not just saying that to make me feel better?

[There was a reason he didn't teach at the Academy. His methods were a bit more free form.]

Our spirits are both predators. The wolf is reacting to the nearby threat of the tiger pacing. [See him answering the unasked question.] If you come breath in time with me, I'll have my own breath and yours to concentrate on to help me focus.

[Even after that though, as Casey got closer, his muscles tightened and the chains rattled again, as if the wolf was getting ready to defend an attack from the tiger.]

You know I'm not gonna attack you, right?

[cringing as soon as the words come out of my mouth, because of course you know, but I don't know what the hell to say in these situations]

[sitting near you, not within easy striking range, starting to force myself to control my breathing]

[Another strained smile.] I know, Casey. My spirit, on the other hand, is just going on instinct. Has been ever since Di Shi tried to take it when he captured me.

[He concentrated on breathing and having Casey's to listen to as well helped immensely.]

[voice soft, in between measured breaths]

Ah. Yes.

I'm sorry, wolf spirit.

[Another soft chuckle, but one that is clearly more relaxed.]

No need to be sorry, Tiger. It's the nature of our spirits.

[smiling because I can actually kinda believe that you're a little more relaxed now, and that instantly makes me relax more]

This is all so complicated.

[He was still smiling as he just breathed.]

It's instinct. It's about as opposite from complicated as you can get. Or...it's supposed to be.

[Now RJ laughed, but it broke his control a little, so it turned into a growl before he could stop himself.]

[Minor set back. Hopefully.]

His eyes closed again and he was silent for a few long moments as he re-composed himself. He didn't want to admit to Casey that it was getting harder each time.]

You've come a long way from the Cub who walked into my pizza shop. I'm proud of you.

[I will definitely not draw your attention to the big cloud of flour that just puffed up the stairway]

[Too late. He'd already heard the commotion from downstairs. He really wished Dom would stop goading Theo.
There was another growl, this time a protective one for one of his cubs.]

You are very welcome Casey. Now, would you please go tell Dom to act his age and stop terrorizing my cubs and poor Fran?

I -- uh -- I'll do what I can.



[oh boy, this should be fun, I'll just jump up and lightly run over to the stairs and down, smiling the whole way, everything's fiiiiiine RJ]

[RJ managed to keep himself together until Casey disappeared down the stairs. Then he lost control, pulling at the chains while snarling and even letting out a howl.

It was getting worse.]

[I explain the situation quickly to the others, and Theo glares at Dominic a few times until Dominic apologises. Sort of.]

[my head snaps around at the howl, and I gulp]

[guess I'm coming back up the stairs now to check on you]

[RJ was still pulling against the chains, growling and snarling. He tried to regain control again but it was proving no use.]

[perching on the end of the bed, closing my eyes]

[yeah, I've done some stupid things in my time but making myself this vulnerable this close to you when you're in this state, even when you're chained, may well take the cake and the rest of the bakery, too]

[slow, deliberate breaths]

[You would be right, Tiger Cub. The chains had enough give from where RJ was sitting that he could grab a handful of Casey's jacket and pull him in closer, so he could snarl right in his face.]
